LOUIE & SON · PUPPY GUIDE

Preparing for your Pomeranian puppy.

A practical checklist for the home, the household and the handover.

A little preparation makes room for a new family member.

Welcoming a Pomeranian puppy starts before the journey home. Once you have discussed the individual puppy and agreed on the next steps, use this guide to organize your space, your household and the questions you want answered at handover.

If you are still deciding whether the breed suits your life, begin with choosing a Pomeranian puppy. To see the puppies we are currently introducing, visit Available Puppies.

Prepare the everyday essentials.

Set up a comfortable resting place and have food and water bowls, suitable bedding, identification, a correctly fitted harness or collar and leash, a secure travel carrier and puppy-appropriate toys ready. Check rooms and outdoor areas from a small puppy’s height, and move loose cords, small objects and household products out of reach.

Agree on the household routine before arrival: who will handle feeding, toilet breaks, supervision and quiet time. The American Veterinary Medical Association’s dog-selection guidance covers preparing a place for a new dog and arranging the basic accessories.

Write down the puppy’s current routine.

Ask us about the individual puppy’s food, feeding times, sleeping routine and familiar activities. Keep those details together with the veterinary records and the agreed sale and collection or delivery information. A written note is easier to refer to than trying to remember everything during an exciting handover.

Arrange a visit with your own veterinarian and share the puppy’s records and feeding information. Your veterinarian can advise on the care, nutrition, preventive health and activities appropriate for that puppy. Discuss changes to the feeding routine with them rather than relying on a general online schedule.

Make introductions thoughtful.

If other animals already live with you, plan the introductions before your puppy arrives. Give each animal a comfortable place to retreat, supervise early meetings and allow your existing pets time to adjust. VCA Animal Hospitals’ new-puppy preparation guide explains how advance planning and separate safe spaces can help.

Talk with children about calm, gentle handling and make sure an adult can supervise. Keep the first days manageable, with room for rest as well as getting acquainted. For questions about introductions or socialization, your veterinarian or a qualified trainer can help you make a plan for your household.

Plan for a Pomeranian’s coat and learning.

Make grooming part of the routine and choose tools appropriate for the puppy’s coat. Keep training patient and consistent, and use positive reinforcement. The American Kennel Club’s Pomeranian guide covers the breed’s grooming and training needs.

Confirm the journey and handover.

Keep the agreed destination, date, contact numbers and handover details in one place. If you are arranging Louie & Son’s personal post-sale driving delivery to Southern California or Arizona, confirm the additional fee and timing directly with us. Our home is in Las Vegas; the regional delivery page explains the service we offer.

Before the day arrives, make a short list of anything you still want to ask. Contact Louie & Son or call (305) 321-1698 to discuss the puppy and the practical arrangements.
