LOUIE & SON · PUPPY GUIDE

Choosing a Pomeranian puppy.

A thoughtful start, from the first photograph to the questions that help you decide.

Start with the life you will share.

A photograph may be the first thing that catches your eye. Choosing a Pomeranian puppy also means thinking about everyday life together: companionship, grooming, gentle handling, training and the time your household can give a young dog.

At Louie & Son, our puppies are raised in our Las Vegas home as part of everyday family life. This guide brings together questions to ask us and a few things to consider before you decide. You can meet our available Pomeranian puppies, then get in touch about the individual puppy who interests you.

Is a Pomeranian a good fit for your home?

Pomeranians are small companion dogs with lively personalities. Their double coats need regular grooming, and training benefits from patience, consistency and positive reinforcement. Their size also makes thoughtful handling important, particularly around children and larger pets. The American Kennel Club’s Pomeranian guide is a useful starting point for understanding the breed.

Think through who will be home during the day, where the puppy will rest, how you will make time for grooming and how everyone in your home will take part. Tell us about your household, your other animals and your experience with dogs. Those details make a more useful conversation than choosing by coat color alone.

Questions to ask about an individual puppy.

Bring your questions to the conversation. These are useful details to discuss before any commitment:

  • What is this puppy’s date of birth, and when would a move to a new home be appropriate?
  • Which dogs are the puppy’s parents, and what can you tell me about them?
  • What veterinary records are available, and what care has the puppy received?
  • What is the puppy eating now, and what does a normal day look like?
  • What have you observed about this puppy’s personality and experiences at home?
  • What are the price, written sale terms and any agreed collection or delivery arrangements?
  • Who should I contact with questions after the puppy comes home?

The American Veterinary Medical Association’s guide to selecting a dog explains why the dog’s needs, your household and clear health records belong in the decision. A puppy’s photograph is an introduction; it is not a substitute for those details.

Get to know the family behind the photographs.

Our grown-up Pomeranians include Louie, Luna, Baba, Foofah and Bleuee. The family album and ten-minute film share real moments from our home. Ask us about the parents of the particular puppy you are considering.

The past puppy photo diary is a collection of memories. For current inquiries, use the Available Puppies page and mention the puppy’s gallery label in your message so we know which little one you mean.
